D-Heart receives the prestigious Compasso d’Oro for D-Heart ECG, the first hospital-grade smartphone ECG device.
D-Heart is proud to announce that has received the prestigious Compasso d’Oro 2020 Award for D-Heart, the portable 8/12 lead ECG device, designed in collaboration with Design Group Italia.
D-Heart is the first 8/12 lead electrocardiograph for smartphones and tablets that is simple to use, clinically reliable, portable and affordable. It allows anyone to perform a hospital-grade ECG in total autonomy and send the results to the 24/7 h telecardiology service.
The two founders Nicolò Briante and Niccolò Maurizi say:
“We are very proud and thankful to have won this prestigious prize. This is a great recognition for our hard work during these years and encourages us to continue in our project to create solutions with the same design principle that reflects the D-Heart brand: simplicity meets reliability”.
D-Heart is based on two fundamental values:
simplicity of use for the patient and reliability of data for the doctor, because it ensures the same performance as hospital electrocardiographs, being certified and clinically validated.
Through the smartphone/tablet app, connected to the device, D-Heart allows to register an 8 lead ECG by the patient and a 12 lead ECG by the health professional. In a single product, two different use cases can be achieved: being the ideal solution both for the chronic patient, who does not have particular medical skills, and for healthcare personnel, like a general practitioner, a nurse, a pharmacist. Traditional devices bulky, complex, expensive and requires expertise and training to be operated. Thanks to its attention to the user experience the approach to ECG recording for the professional is revolutionized: the ECG can be recorded everywhere, faster, efficiently and might have a second opinion within minutes.

Curious about D-Heart?
Current use of D-Heart® ECG device
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the surge of telemedicine services, as healthcare over phone, video or text has become the new need. Being an ECG, the basic exams performed by chronic cardiac patients, D-Heart helps the daily life easier for these patients. They can limit the transfers to the outpatient clinic or hospital, therefore limiting the risk of contamination by preserving a higher standard of care.
D-Heart was founded in 2015 thanks to the work of Nicolò Briante and Niccolò Maurizi, at the time two young students in the interdisciplinary environment of the Almo Collegio Borromeo of Pavia. Maurizi is a young doctor researcher in cardiology at the University of Florence. When he was sixteen, Maurizi was hit by a myocardial infarction. He decided to became a doctor and transform his problem into an opportunity. Thanks to the help and business expertise of his roommate, Briante, they created D-Heart.
Now D-Heart is active worldwide in more than 32 countries from 4 different continents in the development of affordable and operator-oriented cardiovascular and general medicine screening campaigns.
